Grand Prix: Detroit Fast & Furious

The 2025 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear returns to downtown Detroit from May 30 to June 1, transforming the city into a high-octane racing hub. The 1.7-mile, 9-turn street circuit weaves through key downtown landmarks, including Atwater Street, Jefferson Avenue, and Franklin Street, offering fans an immersive urban racing experience.


Traffic & Closures to accommodate the event, several downtown streets will be closed from May 28 through June 5. Notable closures include portions of Jefferson Avenue, Bates, Atwater, Franklin, and Rivard Streets. Public transit routes are also affected; for instance, the 3-Grand River and 6-Gratiot buses have been rerouted. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and consider alternative routes.

Ticketing & Admission: Friday, May 30, is “Free Prix Day,” offering complimentary general admission. For the weekend, single-day reserved seats start at $65 for Friday, $80 for Saturday, and $90 for Sunday. Multi-day passes are also available, with prices starting at $140 for a three-day reserved seat package.


Weather Forecast: The weekend weather looks favorable for racing enthusiasts. Friday may see a mix of clouds and a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms, with highs around 75°F. Saturday is expected to be partly cloudy with highs near 67°F, and Sunday should be mostly sunny with temperatures reaching 70°F.


Event Highlights:



The Grand Prix weekend features a packed schedule: 

• Friday: IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship practices and qualifying sessions, along with INDYCAR practice rounds.  

• Saturday: INDYCAR qualifying and the IMSA Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic race.  

• Sunday: The main event, the NTT INDYCAR SERIES race, takes place, preceded by the INDY NXT by Firestone race.

Additionally, the weekend includes concerts and family-friendly activities throughout downtown, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
